The National Bank of Angola (BNA) put into circulation, on Thursday, the new thousand kwanza banknotes of the 2020 series, after having launched the 500 kwanza banknotes on 17 September and those from 200 to 30 July.
“We make the number of banknotes available to the banks according to their needs,” Sebastião Banganga, director of the Circulating Department of the Banco Nacional de Angola, Sebastião Banganga, said today without mentioning the number of banknotes put into circulation in the bank. first day of release.
The new banknote, made of polymer (plastic), already available in automatic teller machines and has the effigy of the first President of Angola, Agostinho Neto and the sculpture of Pensador, with the inclusion of the nominal value of banknote 1000, on his birthday.
On the reverse side is the image of Morro do Luvili, located in the province of Huambo.
Predominantly pink in color, the note brings in the micro text the National Anthem and a mark for the visually impaired with a raised print that allows the identification of notes with tactile perception.
Unlike the 200 kwanza banknotes, launched on 30 July this year, the 500 and 1000 kwanza banknotes of the new circular series at ATM, s.

According to the Central Bank’s calendar, in November the banknote of 2,000 kwanzas will enter into circulation and in January 2021 the banknote of 5,000 kwanzas, in accordance with Law No. 7/20, of 30 March, which authorizes the respective issue and put into circulation by the BNA.
The new notes have the image of António Agostinho Neto, first President of the Republic, as opposed to the current ones that bear the faces of two former heads of state.
The current notes of the 2012 series continue to be valid and accepted as a means of payment, without restrictions, and there is no need to exchange them for the 2020 series.
