The new polymer £20 note, to get into circulation on 20 February, has a set of unique security features such as two windows, a two-color foil that makes counterfeiting hard.
The large see-through window highlights blue and gold foil on the front that has Margate lighthouse and Turner Contemporary - in honor of the famous artist JMW Turner.
The foil on the back is silver and the large window is placed on the shape of the fountains in Trafalgar Square. A smaller see-through window, inspired by Tintern Abbey, is at the bottom corner of the note.
The note will also be the first to feature the signature of the Bank’s chief cashier Sarah John. Retailers are allowed to accept £20 notes which will be gradually removed from circulation. A notice will be published six months before the removal of the note.
