Varnished Russian Rubles: Looks like New!

The Central Bank of Russia has started the printing of hundred -ruble banknotes that are lacquered. Lacquered notes are protected from the wear and tear of daily use and do not soil easily. With this, the bank needn’t print new notes to replace old notes. The cost of printing notes is reduced, leading to more savings for the government. The Central Bank had released a trial batch of bills covered in different types of varnish in the year 2016. Since then, the bank had been monitoring the various bills to find the best varnish to use. The bank is planning to varnish a third of the hundred-ruble banknotes that are in circulation.
