The new bill of 100 pesos was put into circulation by the Central Bank of Argentine Republic (BCRA) with the image of Taruca, an indigenous deer that constitutes the emblem of the Argentine Northwest. This ticket will be distributed with the same value currently in circulation through the entire network of bank branches from December 19. This is the sixth and last member of the series ‘Native Animals of Argentina’ after the condor ($ 50); put into circulation this year; the hornero($ 1000) and the guanaco ($ 20) launched in 2017; and the southern right Whale ($200) and the yaguarete ($500) of legal tender since 2016. The launching of the 100 peso bill was officially done today in the town of Leon, in the province of Jujuy.
The new ticket has an intaglio print, in which one can see the portrait of Taruca and a code for the people with visual disabilities. The ticket also has a front-back motif; a partial footprint of the animal, to the left of the watermark, which is completed by transparency with the reverse side. Violet is the predominant colour of the Taruca bill. Along with the portrait of Taruca its characteristic habitat is also recreated. In the lower left-hand corner, a taruca calf is represented as a reference dedicated to the children. With the images of drunkard and calden, the BCRA ordered the issuance of the $2 and $10 coins. The $ 20 coins weigh 5 gm with a diameter of 21. 5 millimetres and has a golden colour while the $ 10 weigh 9 gm with 24.5 mm which also has a golden colour.
