The Bank of Algeria (BA) is preparing to issue a new coin worth 500 dinars, according to the Arabic-language newspaper El-Bilad.
Indeed, the Bank of Algeria is preparing to issue soon a new coin worth 500 dinars, reports the Arabic-language newspaper El-Bilad. The same source also adds that the possibility of issuing a new 5000 dinar ticket is currently being studied by the competent authorities.
Recall that in 2014, the Bank of Algeria decided to withdraw from circulation the notes of 200 and 100 Dinars issued during the years 1981, 1982 and 1983. The decision came into effect from 1 January 2015.
It should also be noted that the government’s recourse to non-conventional domestic financing (billboard) does not rule out a drastic devaluation of the national currency, and therefore the use of the issuance of new banknotes and coins.
