Madagaskar is on a plan to revamp its banknote structure with introduction of a new series in a few days. The Banque Central de Madagascar has confirmed the introduction of a single note of 20,000 which is highest denomination so far in the country. Along with this, the series will also include, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000 ariary.
The theme of the notes will be based on “Madagascar and its Riches,” they will speak loud on the rich biodiversity and culture of the country along with economic achievements and tourism. All notes will have zebu head watermarks and will have tactile geometric features for the sight-impaired. Security threads and iridescent stripes will add to the security measures of the bill.
The 20,000-ariary note will be blue in colour with measurement of 149 x 81 mm and portrays the nickel processing plant at Ambatovy on front, and vanilla, rice, and lychees on back.
Smaller denominations notes including 100, 200, 500, 1,000 of this new series, is supposed to be released by end of this year.
