The Central Bank of Nicaragua plans to launch new 500 and 1000 cordoba banknotes on 8th July 2019. The new notes, printed on polymer substrates, will have high durability and the state-of-the-art security measures making it harder to counterfeit. The notes can also be recycled, thus environmentally friendly. The dimensions of the note are similar to the ones already in circulation. With the new notes, BCN will have its entire banknotes family in the polymer substrate.
