New Rs 50 denomination currency notes will be issued by Reserve Bank of India on Tuesday bearing the signature of Governor Shaktikanta Das. However, the old notes will remain legal tender. The new Mahatma Gandhi series bears the motif of ‘Hampi with chariot’ on the reverse, the Rs 50 note is fluorescent and the Rs 200 has shades of purple. In exchange for the demonetized banknotes, the government has issued Rs 500 and Rs 2000.
