The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has issued the first set of banknotes with the name and signature of the BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno.
Diokno himself suggested that his signature looked little worms or ‘bulate’ and that they are easy to forge. The new notes were issued as part of BSP’s 70th anniversary.
Diokno was appointed as the 5th head of the Central Bank last year in March after then head Nestor Espenilla Jr. passed away.
The banknotes issued were 20-peso, 50-peso, 100-peso, 200-peso, 500-peso and 1,000-peso banknotes with the governor’s signature are the latest in New Generation Currency series in circulation.
