Clydesdale Bank has announced to launch its second polymer note. This time, the bank is introducing its £10 by September 2017. David Duffy, chief executive of Clydesdale Bank, expressed his excitement on the introduction of this new member to the polymer series, after the huge success of £5 polymer note which was presented last September. He also mentioned that this long lasting note is one of the most innovative economic improvements and it has helped a lot in reducing counterfeits. The new note to this series is expected to add to the benefits.
The new £10 note will feature Scottish poet Robert Burns on the front whereas the reverse side will include the Edinburgh’s Old and New towns. With a shiny inked surface that changes colors slightly on moving and tilting, the new banknote is slightly lesser in size to its paper equivalent. The note has a tangible feature as well to help visually impaired people.
Many more banks are in line to introduce their new £10 polymer version note. Bank of Scotland is all set to come up with their polymer notes featuring Scottish novelist and poet Sir Walter Scott alongside The Mound in Edinburg by this autumn. Whereas RBS, has declared to feature, scientist Mary Somerville on its polymer version of £10.
Bank of England has already unveiled the polymer £10 featuring Jane Austin earlier this month.
