In a press conference held at the Information Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on May 17th, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar said that they will issue new currency notes featuring the image of General Aung San in 2020. Also, Soe Thein added that ‘CBM is now working on the design and security features of the currency notes. The design and security feature on the coming currency notes are very sensitive. Japan takes the next 5 years to put a currency note into circulation, the US also has to take 2 or 3 years to circulate currency note, but we can circulate it in the coming year’.
